A WARGRAVE woman celebrated her 100th birthday with a lunch party.

A WARGRAVE woman celebrated her 100th birthday with a lunch party.

Letty Willett, of Milley Lane, who was born on September 6, 1913, was joined by more than 40 guests at the celebration at Hennerton Golf Club.

Mrs Willett was born in Muswell Hill, London, and worked as a secretary to the chief inspector of mines in Whitehall.

After suffering a fall during an air raid during the Second World War, she was told she would not be able to have children and would never walk again. She and her husband Roy then moved to Wargrave. He died 10 years ago.

Mrs Willett is a popular figure in the village and attends the morning service at St Mary’s Church every Sunday.
