CAMPAIGNER Kate Ashbrook has been nominated for an award.

CAMPAIGNER Kate Ashbrook has been nominated for an award.

As general secretary of the Open Spaces Society, which is based in Bell Street, Henley, she fights to protect Britain’s footpaths and commons.

Miss Ashbrook has been shortlisted for The Great Outdoors magazine’s outdoor personality of the year award, which is voted for by the public.

Miss Ashbrook, who lives in Turville and is also president of the Ramblers, is shortlisted along with 10 other people, including TV bushcraft expert Ray Mears, fell-runner Joss Naylor and environmentalist Marion Shoard.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Kendal on November 13.
