Why I wear a poppy

Councillor Marion Pope, Wargrave Parish Council

Councillor Marion Pope, Wargrave Parish Council

“I AM proud to wear a poppy each November. We should all remember the tremendous sacrifices the armed forces of our nation and the Commonwealth have made so that we may have the freedom of living and speech.

Poppy flowers bloom and die in a single season and so many of our men and women have, like the poppy, bloomed and died in early life due to the conflicts we have been involved in.

We must be there to support the families of those left behind and those both injured in body and mind — it is our duty. They must never be forgotten.”
