You don’t have to be mad to work here...

DID you know that one per cent of the population is classified as a psychopath?

DID you know that one per cent of the population is classified as a psychopath?

Chances are there’s one lurking behind a perfectly sane-looking face down at your local pub — or even in your office.

This startling fact was brought to life this week by former Henley Standard deputy editor Jeremy Drakes in a trailer for Channel 4’s Psychopath Night, which will be shown tomorrow night (Saturday).

Jeremy, who lives in Caversham, started work here as a trainee reporter in 1983 and only took up acting professionally in his thirties. He now juggles acting jobs with freelance journalism.

His credits so far include playing the machiavellian Count Angelo in Shakespeare’s Measure For Measure, a gun-crazed loonie in a short film that was premiered in Leicester Square and a Paxman-like interrogator reducing a wayward politician to a quivering wreck for a music video. In this latest role, Jeremy plays the boss in a boardroom who flies into a psychopathic rage while delivering a presentation to a group of employees.

The normally mild- mannered Jeremy revealed his more sensitive side in October by reciting poetry aboard the Hibernia as part of the Henley Literary Festival.

Hannibal Lecter would no doubt approve.
