Manager praises library volunteers on 10th anniversary

THE manager of Benson library has celebrated her 10th anniversary in the post.

THE manager of Benson library has celebrated her 10th anniversary in the post.

A celebration was held on December 13, the exact date in 2004 that Hilary Rust took up her position. A coffee morning was held for members of the public followed by a reception for volunteers where refreshments were served.

Mrs Rust said: “I’ve had a lovely time. I’d like to thank all the volunteers who keep the library open.”

She said one of the highlights in her tenure was seeing more youngsters become members. Robert James, a trustee of the Friends of Benson Library, said: “As a relative newcomer to the community, Hilary’s welcome was not only outstandingly informative but also warm and welcoming.

“In fact, I can say that there is a definite linkage from Hilary’s welcome to the fact that I am standing here as a serious library user, a volunteer library worker and a trustee of the Friends of Benson Library.”

Mr James thanked all the volunteers for their dedication and commitment.
