In praise of women

ONLINE nominations are now being accepted for this year’s Women of Achievement Awards.

ONLINE nominations are now being accepted for this year’s Women of Achievement Awards.

Now in its eighth year, the awards recognise inspirational women from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

They will be presented in seven categories, including young achiever under 30, lifetime achiever, sportswoman of the year, creative woman of the year and businesswoman of the year.

There is also a community award for women who make a positive contribution to their area either socially of through work and a volunteering award.

The deadline for nominations closes on February 2 and a panel of judges will shortlist three women in each category. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Crowne Plaza in Marlow on March 19.

The awards are sponsored by Invesco Perpetual, CH&Co Catering and Higgs Group, publishers of the Henley Standard.

Mark Armour, chief executive of Invesco Perpetual, said: “Invesco Perpetual is proud of its continued support for Sue Ryder and the Women of Achievement Awards.

“The Nettlebed Hospice offers crucial care and assistance to individuals and their families during the most difficult times and initiatives such as this helps ensure that vital support continues to be available within our community.

“These awards are a wonderful way of recognising the contributions made by so many people as well as Sue Ryder and the important work it does. We wish all nominees the very best of luck.”
