A FREE course aimed at the bereaved is being offered by Henley funeral directors A B Walker & Son.
The six-week course, launched in partnership with the charity Cruse Bereavement Care, is open to anyone in South Oxfordshire who has lost a loved one in the past year.
Each session is a mixture of learning and group interaction, managed by trained group bereavement facilitators. It is held at the firm?s Reading office and is free to attend.
Melissa Walker, the company?s head of bereavement care, said: ?Grieving is a natural part of recovering from bereavement and losing a loved one can be one of life?s most difficult experiences.
Everyone?s experience of grief is unique but many people feel sadness, shock, anger, anxiety and despair.
?We feel there are huge benefits in sharing experiences of loss and that?s why we set up the group. Our service does not end immediately after the funeral but continues afterwards, particularly through the difficult months ahead.
?We see a change in the people who come along. We see them growing in confidence. People like to share their stories. They can feel they are not alone and that their feelings are normal, which has resulted in close bonds forming.?
