THE co-founder of an amateur dramatics group in Shiplake has died after collapsing on stage.
Lizzie Thomas, 62, was rushed to hospital on Friday after she collapsed during a performance of Swan Song in Tiverton, Devon. She died later that night.
Mrs Thomas lived in Henley before moving to Devon with husband Andrew and children Harriet and Gareth in 2010.
She helped start the Shiplake and Dunsden Dramatic Organisation in 1999 and had appeared in dozens of  productions.
Mrs Thomas, who had received good reviews for her role as Marianne in Swan Song, was taking part in the penultimate performance and was in the wings collecting a prop when she collapsed.
She was tended to by two nurses from the audience before paramedics arrived. The performance was cancelled shortly before the interval.
In a statement, SHADDO said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of one of our founding members, Lizzie Thomas, who passed away suddenly on April 17.
“She died doing something she loved. She will be very sadly missed by all her many friends in SHADDO and in Shiplake.”
Tiverton Dramatic Society said its members were devastated by her loss.
