A WOMAN died after failing into the River Thames at Goring.
Sheila Currie, 69, from Hook, fell off a powered boat downstream from Cleeve Lock and was severely injured by the propeller.
A lock-keeper dived into the water and pulled her to the bank before calling 999.
An ambulance and community response vehicle were sent to the scene along with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance.
Mrs Currie was treated at the scene and then taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where she died soon afterwards.
Police are investigating the death but say it is not being treated as suspicious.
The Environment Agency, which is responsible for the Thames, is co-operating with the investigation.
An inquest has been opened and adjourned until September 30.
