Could this be Henley celebrating VE Day?

CYRILLA HAVARD has contacted me about a roll of negatives that she found among a large collection of photographs belonging to her late mother, Janet Prescott.

She processed them and found the 13 photographs were taken during the Forties when her father, Tom Prescott, was working as a dental technician at Philip Pearce’s dental practice at Blandy House in Hart Street, Henley. Mrs Havard, who lives in Blackheath, Suffolk, says: “The photographs appear to have been taken from the upper windows of Blandy House and show various organisations marching from the direction of the town hall towards St Mary’s Church.

“I have no idea what the occasion was but it could possibly relate to the ending of the Second World War. Perhaps someone might be able to identify it?

“There are also pictures of my father and Mr Pearce and his dental team at Blandy House.

“Perhaps the current practice manager would be interested in seeing them?”

Please can any reader enlighten Mrs Harvard and me?
