A WOMAN from Shiplake who has spent 27 years as a charity volunteer has been awarded an MBE.

Lynda Myles-Till, of Mill Lane, was named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services for her work with Action for Children.

Mrs Myles-Till is an ambassador for the charity, which looks after sexually and physically abused children and needs to make £20 million each year.

She said: "I found out last year and was beyond delighted. I've been doing this for a long time and I'm hoping it will give me greater clout to make even more money for the charity.

"I'll be collecting the medal from the Palace in the next six months. I don't mind who gives it to me but I's prefer the Queen!

"Once I've got it I'm going to wear it every day."
