RAF servicemen honoured

THREE servicemen at RAF Benson were named in the honours list. Cdr Matt Punch, Master Aircrewman

THREE servicemen at RAF Benson were named in the honours list. Cdr Matt Punch, Master Aircrewman Aaron Neal and Flt Sgt Derek Edwards were all made an MBE.

Cdr Punch is due to take over the service’s naval air squadron and was commended for his role during the replacement of the RAF’s Sea King helicopter with a Merlin Mk3 this year.

Master Aircrewman Neal has been in the RAF for 26 years and has achieved more than 5,000 hours of flying time in the Chinook helicopter.

Flt Sgt Edwards has raised more than £140,000 through his charity work for the Crucial Crew schools programme in Shropshire.

Thames Valley deputy chief constable John Campbell was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for services to policing.
