Rescued Monty, two, awarded judge’s favourite prize at fun dog show

A RECORD 91 dogs took part in the fifth annual Bix fun dog show.

A RECORD 91 dogs took part in the fifth annual Bix fun dog show.

They competed in seven categories, including musical chairs, most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, best trick, waggiest tail, best veteran, best youngster and judge’s favourite.

Rescue dog Monty, owned by Hannah Jones, from Woodcote, won the judge’s favourite category and Labrador-retriever cross Skye, owned by Anna Wray, from Bix, won the best trick competition.

Organiser Maggie Templeton, from Lower Assendon, said: “This year’s event was unbelievable. We are tremendously grateful to all our four-pawed entrants and their owners for making the day such fun and a great success.”

She thanked sponsors including Chiltern Pet Partners and businesses that donated prizes such as Senior Health Checks from the Veterinary Centre, Henley, the Big Dog Bed Company in Nuffield and Pete’s Pet Pad in Caversham.

The dog show took place at the same time as the village fete on Bix  Common, where attractions included pony rides, welly wanging, a bouncy castle, tombola and barbecue.

The other 1st prize red rosette winners were:

Musical chairs (first round) â?? Harley, owned by Jen Grove of Benson.

Most handsome dog â?? Albert, Ulla Hughey, of Henley.

Prettiest bitch â?? Eva, Emma Hewes, of Henley.

Waggiest tail â?? Domino, Vic Skidmore, of Goring.

Best veteran â?? Tara, Janet Gleen, of Chinnor.

Best youngster â?? Minnie, Louise and Petter Lautin, of Arborfield.
