Sun brings out the crowds at fetes

HUNDREDS of people soaked up the sunshine at the Benson summer fete on Saturday.

HUNDREDS of people soaked up the sunshine at the Benson summer fete on Saturday.

Attractions included a craft fair and a barbecue as well as bouncy castle, inflatable slide and tractor rides for children.

Roke and Benson Brass Band played all afternoon and there was a performance by children from Stephanie’s Stage Stop dance school.

More than £3,000 was raised for Benson Primary School.

Jo Whittaker, vice-chairwoman of the school’s Friends, said: “It was a fantastic day and the weather was incredibly kind to us. We really wanted to get the whole community together and celebrate as it is not just a school event.”
