Youngsters see ‘inspiring’ Jessie J

TEENAGE music fans had the chance to hear Jessie J perform on the first night of the Henley Festival.

TEENAGE music fans had the chance to hear Jessie J perform on the first night of the Henley Festival.

The nine youngsters, who attend the Acoustic@Magoos workshops, got up close to the pop star by taking a trip on the Thames to the “floating” stage.

The club, which was started earlier this year, offers weekly masterclasses at the Hart Street bar for budding young musicians in Henley. Maggie Atkinson, who helped set up the club, said the boat, the

Midsomer Maiden
, had been donated by Gillian Nahum, of Henley Sales and Charter.

“She’s got a massive heart for the youth,” she said. “I think Jessie J is amazing, I enjoyed watching her on

The Voice
and thought she was impressive.”

The singer performed on Wednesday night after having two operations the previous week. Aaron Foster, 16, said: “It’s impressive that she’s come after being ill. From what I’ve heard she’s got a pretty impressive vocal range, especially live.”

Caidan Venables, also 16, added: “I didn’t really know of the festival that much but now obviously I know who’s playing and it’s quite a big thing.”

Mollie Sanchez, 14, said: “I used to listen to her a lot actually with my mum — I like her.”
