DIDCOT arts centre Cornerstone has announced the line—up for its annual beer and music festival
DIDCOT arts centre Cornerstone has announced the line—up for its annual beer and music festival — for which entry is free of charge.
Now in its seventh year, the 2015 event will run from Friday, July 31, to Sunday, August 2, at the Station Road venue.
With a choice of over 25 specialist beers and ciders from the Loose Cannon Brewery, great food hot off the barbecue and fantastic bands, this free festival has become a firm favourite in the Didcot calendar.
Event organiser Louise Birt said: “Over the last few years our beer and music festival has become a highlight in the Oxfordshire music calendar.
“We champion new bands and musicians all year long in our free bar gigs, booking the best and the brightest on the local and national scene.
“This is the culmination — truly extraordinary musicians and the best range of local beers that you get at a festival. And it’s free to visit.”
As always, the quality of music is exciting and varied and many of the artists hail from Oxfordshire. Seminal Oxford reggae legends Dubwiser will headline Cornerstone’s own pyramid stage with their exciting modern blend of live roots reggae and rap.
Saturday night’s headliner, Oxford—based space—pop quintet Flights of Helios, will be etched into the minds of those who attended last year.
The band’s combination of electronica and post—rock guitars create a unique and memorable sound that won them a slot on Glastonbury’s BBC Introducing stage.
There are many other names to look out for over the three days, including Duchess, who are back at the festival on Friday night with their high—energy afro—inspired percussion pop.
Not forgetting Wallingford’s Band of Hope, who will beguile festivalgoers with their beautiful folk harmonies, soaring violin melodies and haunting tunes at 5pm on the Saturday.
There are no muddy fields, no overcrowding, no expensive tickets — just three days of free music and the best local beers, ciders, food and music.
