LAURENCE DONALD LAWRENCE, known as Don to family and friends, died peacefully at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading on Tuesday, July 21 after a period of poor health.Â
His loving wife Joy and their daughter Justine and son David were by his side at the time of passing.
Don and Joy were married for 57 years and lived most of their married life in Henley.Â
They spent many years in Berkshire Road, where Justine and David were born, and then moved to Greys Road where they built a new home.Â Don worked for Videcom and Royal Mail during most of his time in Henley but was also known in the town for his incredible upholstery skills and his love of gardens.
Don was a popular figure in Henley and loved by many for his kindness.Â
He was affectionately known as “Uncle Don” by friends of Justine and David because nothing was too much trouble for him. Â
Many families in Henley will have fond memories and wonderful stories of the good times with Don.
His family invites friends to celebrate Don’s life at Sonning Mill after the funeral at Reading Crematorium today (Friday, July 31) at 11.30am.Â Flowers and condolences may be sent to the crematorium.
