BEN BASKERVILLE, a student at Icknield Community College in Watlington, achieved one A*, five A grades and three Bs despite being diagnosed with leukaemia in March.
Ben, 16, of Saunders Close, Watlington, is currently undergoing chemotherapy at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
He said: “Fortunately, I was able to take the exams at college but I had to do most of the revision in hospital. It was difficult coming in and out of school because of how tired I get. Some days I came in for a couple of lessons and then had to go home.”
He will now study for A-levels in biology, chemistry, physics, maths and psychology at Lord Williams’s School sixth form in Thame.
“I’m relieved to have my results and I’m looking forward to my A-levels,” said Ben.
His mother Elly said: “I’m really proud. I’d be proud anyway regardless of what the results were but to go what he’s going through and get these results is amazing.”
