A MEMORIAL to former parish and district councillor Ann Ducker will be unveiled on the first anniversary of her death.
The new Goring community notice board will be opened by her daughters Sarah Ducker and Catherine Tustain at Westholme Stores in Wallingford Road at noobn on September 21.
Councillor Ducker, who was leader of South Oxfordshire District Council, was 71 when she died after a short illness.
Her daughters said they wanted something in memory of their mother and this seemed like the “perfect location” as she was always been a supporter of Jayesh Patel’s, store, known as Jack’s.
They said: “At Christmas, when we heard about Jack wanting to get a new notice board for the site, it seemed fitting for us to take over.
“We appointed Simon Campbell, a local carpenter, who knew our mother and he has created exactly what we wanted in the notice board in Conservative blue. Well, would you expect anything else!
“Goring Hardware did the sign writing so we have kept it all local.
“It is hard to believe that our mother passed a year ago. Some days it feels like only yesterday and other times a lifetime ago but you get stronger with time.”
