A WOMAN from Henley will take part in the Thames Path Challenge tomorrow (Saturday) in memory of her father.
Maria Hayden, of Knapp Close, hopes to complete the 100km walk from Putney Bridge to Henley in 24 hours.
Mrs Hayden, 50, is fund-raising for the Alzheimer?s Society in memory of her father John Pruckner, a former mayor of Henley.
He died two weeks ago after living with the disease for two years.
Mrs Hayden, who has already raised more than £1,500, said: ?Last year I decided I wanted to do something to make a difference not necessarily for him but others who suffer with it. With my dad passing it has helped funds a bit.?
When Mrs Hayden decided to do the challenge, two friends agreed to join her.
Sharron Jones, 49, from Binfield Heath, is completing the challenge in aid of Diabetes UK.
Tracy Hinton, 53, of Marsh Lock, is walking in aid if the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She has suffered with the disease for 19 years.
Mrs Hayden said: ?We?ve been training together two or three times a week. We used to do it at LA Fitness in Newtown Road until it closed. The longest training walk we have done is about 30 miles.?
Mr Hinton said: ?I just hope it?s going to be nice and sunny but not too hot!?
