Parade to remember

A PARADE to mark Remembrance Day will be held in Benson on November 8.

A PARADE to mark Remembrance Day will be held in Benson on November 8.

Personnel from RAF Benson, members of the Royal British Legion, veterans, scouts, cubs, guides and brownies will take part.

They will assemble in High Street at 10.30am and then make their way to the war memorial at the junction of Church Road and Oxford Road, where the names of fallen servicemen will be read out.

The Last Post will be sounded by a bugler from Roke and Benson Brass Band and banners will be lowered. A two-minute silence will be held before Reveille is sounded. After an RAF flypast, wreaths will be laid.

The parade will then march to St Helen’s Church for a remembrance service.
