Clampdown on free boat mooring

THE Environment Agency is to clamp down on boaters who abuse its free 24-hour mooring sites on the Thames in Goring, Wargrave and Sonning.

THE Environment Agency is to clamp down on boaters who abuse its free 24-hour mooring sites on the Thames in Goring, Wargrave and Sonning.

It is to introduce car park-style enforcement to ensure that owners do not overstay their allotted time and prevent others from using them. Offenders will face fines.

The move follows a successful pilot scheme last year in which compliance rates rocketed.

The contract to enforce the moorings has been awarded to NSL.
