TV couple visit regatta for a taste of luxury

WHEN TV presenters Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford visited this year?s Henley Royal Regatta for a new programme they were pleasantly surprised.

WHEN TV presenters Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford visited this year?s Henley Royal Regatta for a new programme they were pleasantly surprised.

They had feared it would be ?really stuck up and posh?, says town councillor Sam Evans, who hosted the couple. In fact, they enjoyed it so much that they want to return next year.

Sam runs Humphreys of Henley, a bespoke experiences company, and accompanied the couple, who normally present ITV?s This Morning.

The results will be seen in a new six-part series called Eamonn and Ruth: How The Other Half Lives, which begins on Channel 5 on Tuesday at 9pm.

The programme investigates the world of those with lavish and luxurious lifestyles and how they spend their money.

Sam says she was delighted to have been chosen to help along with Hobbs of Henley and Cliveden House, where the couple began filming on the first day of the five-day regatta.

Holmes was then flown by helicopter to the hospitality marquees on the Berkshire bank at the regatta, where he and his wife (who travelled by car) enjoyed a champagne tea courtesy of Mosimann?s and the Copas Partnership. They watched some racing and then made a brief stop at Fawley Court, where owner Aida Hersham was hosting a lunch.

Sam admits she was nervous about being filmed.

?For somebody who hates even hearing themselves on an answer phone, seeing on yourself TV is a bit nerve-racking,? she says.

?I don?t know how much they?ll show but I?m really excited about seeing it.?
