RAF base is inspected

RAF Benson has been given its annual inspection.

RAF Benson has been given its annual inspection.

It was carried out by Air Vice-Marshal Gavin Parker who also presented medals and commendations to personnel.

He was given a tour of the front line and training helicopter squadrons, logistics hangars, messes and accommodation and simulators.

He also learned about the successful deployment of the Puma 2 helicopters in Afghanistan and the recent integration of the Chinook Operational Conversion Unit at RAF Benson.

Group Captain Simon Paterson, station commander, said: “It was an honour to host Air Vice-Marshal Parker for his first formal inspection of RAF Benson.



“I am extremely grateful that he was able to meet so many personnel to gain a deeper insight into the outstanding work that is undertaken here on a daily basis.”
