Busy day in Meadows

A CHARITY has been given permission to use Mill Meadows in Henley for an event.

A CHARITY has been given permission to use Mill Meadows in Henley for an event.

The British Heart Foundation wants to use the area for the 100km London to Oxford Trek on Saturday, May 21.

Between 200 and 300 people are expected to take part and Mill Meadows would be the halfway point or the finish point for those people only tackling the 50km route.

The organisers say they will need to erect two 6m by 12m marquees.

Meanwhile, the Chelsea Fringe Henley festival has been given permission to use a section of the temporary moorings at Mill Meadows, between the bowls club and River and Rowing Museum jetty, to moor a craft participating in a floral flotilla on the same day.

The boats will gather at about 11am and parade up and downstream before re-mooring at 3pm.

It is the second year of the festival and flotilla.
