A TEAM of boys from Blue Coat School in Sonning have made it through to the regional final of the Youth Speaks competition.

Ted Aplin, 12, from Henley, William Peters, 13, from Emmer Green, and Miles Edwards, 12, from Lower Shiplake, will compete at the event at Liston Hall in Marlow on Sunday.

They are the first intermediate team in the school’s history to secure a place in the regional final of the national competition, which is organised by Rotary.

They have already made it through three rounds, including the local heat of the competition at the Kenton Theatre in Henley.

The boys’ subject is the phone craze for “selfies”. Ted is chairman, William is the main speaker and Miles gives the vote of thanks.
