Earlier start to festival

THIS year’s Woodcote Festival will begin an hour earlier than usual.

THIS year’s Woodcote Festival will begin an hour earlier than usual.

The annual event, which will be held on the village green on September 10, will start at noon instead of 1pm and finish at 5pm as normal.

It will kick off with a new fancy dress competition for children. Youngsters taking part will gather at St Leonard’s Church shortly before noon and then parade to the green off Reading Road.

Organiser say there will be be more live music, food stalls and games than in previous years. Last year’s festival raised £1,500 for an audio induction loop for the hard of hearing and a defibrillator at the village hall.

This year, proceeds will go towards equipping the building’s pavilion room with an electric canopy or blinds.

Anyone with new ideas or who can volunteer to run it on the day should call Helena McBride on 07798 701041.

Those wishing to set up a stall should call Jo Lillywhite on 07880 330667 or email jclillywhite@gmail.com
