RESIDENTS of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell are to hold an open gardens event for the first time in six years next month.
The event on Sunday, May 8 will include expert talks and demonstrations.
Ali Quantrell, of the University of Oxford’s Botanic Garden, will demonstrate natural woven birch staking and offer gardening advice over tea and cake.
Resident horticulturalist Paul Chilton will share his expertise in the rare art of fruit tree grafting.
Jason Debney, a landscape architect, will talk about the history of the cottage garden.
Teas will be provided at St Agatha’s Church and there will be off-road parking.
The event will run from 2pm to 5pm. Visitors are asked to make a suggested donation of £5 at any of the open gardens.
The proceeds will go towards the redevelopment of the garden used by children at Allsorts Pre-school.
