TWO women will drive 1,600km in a rally from Paris to Saint-Tropez.

Louise Hall, 51, from Bix, and Jane Ticehurst, 52, from Fawley, will take part in the all-female Le Rallye des  Princesses from May 29 to June 2.

Mrs Hall will drive her 1968 Mercedes SL Pagoda, which she has owned for a year, with Mrs Ticehurst as navigator.

The pair — the only Britons out of about 90 teams to be taking part — will leave Bix two days before the race and cross the Channel via the  Eurotunnel before driving to Paris. For the rally they will drive south via Dijon and Saint-Etienne, staying in hotels overnight.

Mrs Hall said: “We thought it would be an experience. The car is currently being checked, so hopefully I don’t have any incidents. It’s being fitted with all the kit we need — the navigational stuff. We’re so excited about it, we’re beside ourselves. Hopefully, we won’t end up in Barcelona!”

The women, who are calling themselves the Bixie Chicks, have started a blog about the trip at www.bixiechicksontour.com
