Village fete with regal theme

THE Bix and Assendon village fete and fun dog show will take place on Bix Common

THE Bix and Assendon village fete and fun dog show will take place on Bix Common on Saturday, June18 from 12.30pm to 4pm.

There will be a regal theme to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday and the parish council has agreed to underwrite free admission to all.

Parish councillor Matthew Beesley said: “With the fete accessible to all, we are hoping for a record attendance.”

The fete will feature the usual book, plant, produce and toy stalls, entertainment by Tim Valentine and an inter-village tug-of war where the villages of Bix, Middle Assendon and Lower Assendon will form teams of six to compete.

Food will be provided by a Luscombes pop-up restaurant and there will be a tea room with royal-themed cakes.

For children there will be a bouncy castle, royal wellie throwing and crown decorating competitions along with a team game.

The dog show will be run by Luigi Guitart and will feature prizes in a series of categories including an automatic prize if you bring along a corgi. To register, send an email to luigissmartdogs@gmail.com

Offers of donations or to volunteer on the day should be made to Emma Beesley at bixvillagefete@yahoo.co.uk
