A HENLEY woman is writing a book called What The Queen Said To Me.
Chilli Brener, of King’s Road, has spent four years collecting 50 anecdotes and stories from the Thirties to 2014.
Mrs Brenner won’t reveal details but says one story involves representatives of Henley Royal Regatta being granted an audience with the Queen to receive a newly commissioned cup.
Her inspiration for the book came from a television interview she watched. Mrs Brener explained: “I heard the interviewer say to this man, who had met the Queen, ‘do you remember what she said?’
“He said, ‘Of course, I remember exactly what she said’. I thought ‘he can’t be the only person’. People seem to remember pretty much everything she has uttered to them.
“I never went out with the intention of writing a book, it just happened. The more people I spoke to the more it seemed like a good idea.”
Mrs Brener hopes to have the book published early next year.
