Lancaster to fly over church fete

THE Caversham church fete will take place at Caversham Court Gardens on Saturday, July 9 from

THE Caversham church fete will take place at Caversham Court Gardens on Saturday, July 9 from 1pm.

The traditional fete, which is organised by the parish of Caversham, Thameside and Mapledurham, will include entertainment, refreshments, stalls and sideshows.

There will be performances by the Berkshire Maestros Arnold Band and the O’Gara School of Irish Dancing/Maguire O’Shea Academy.

For children, there will be races, bouncy castles and entertainer Fred in the Shed.

There will be sideshows including a coconut shy, hoopla and hook-a-duck, stalls selling cakes, books, plants, bric-a-brac, jewellery, jams and preserves, a tombola and chocolate tombola and a grand draw with a top prize of a week in a holiday chalet in the French Alps.



An Avro Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will perform a fly-past.

Refreshments will include tea and cakes, coffee and ice cream. There will be a Pimm’s tent and Stevie’s Kitchen will be serving hot food.

The fete is sponsored by funeral directors AB Walker and estate agents Walmsley.
