ABOUT 80 people attended a street party in St Andrew’s Road, Henley, on Sunday.

The road was closed between the junctions with Vicarage Road and Western Road and residents brought tables and chairs into the street and put gazebos up to protect them from the rain. Children were allowed to draw on the road in chalk.

There was a royal bake-off, a treasure hunt, a create your own ice-cream stand and face-painting. Organiser Sarah Gilbert said: “It’s good to get to know all the neighbours a bit better and obviously it is a good opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. It gives us a chance to spend time with the people that live around us and we don’t get the time to see because everyone is so busy.

“This is a special occasion so it’s good to be able to spend time with family and friends.”
