A BRING and share picnic was held in Rotherfield Greys on Sunday for the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Guests decanted on to Greys Green later in the afternoon when the sun came out.
It is the second celebration of Her Majesty’s birthday in the village following a party and beacon lighting at the Maltsters Arms pub in April.
On Sunday, there were games and egg and spoon, sack and space hopper races.
Organiser Jo Duncan said: “The children seemed to be having a great time.”
A cake was baked for the occasion by villager Romey Poston. Mrs Duncan, who moved to the village from Ealing two years ago, said she had never known such community spririt.
She said: “Everyone tries to get together when they can.
“Everything we think about in our lives, the Queen has always been there. It is quite astonishing.
“She and the Duke of Edinburgh are an example to us all.
“They show that marriage works and through the years you have seen him making her laugh.”
