DOZENS of families celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with a community picnic at Kidmore End Primary School on Saturday.
They laid down blankets in the grounds of the school in Chalkhouse Green Road and there was a bouncy castle for the children.
A television in a tent showed a live feed of the celebrations in London.
Robert Lynch, who attended with his wife Jocelyn, said: “I think the Queen is first class. She has done a terrific job in difficult circumstances.”
Caroline McAslam added: “Today is all about the community and getting together to celebrate a most amazing lady.”
There was also a special church service in the village while pupils at the school held their own picnic on Friday with a red, white and blue theme and home-made crowns.
