TWO hundred pupils at Rupert House School in Henley celebrated with staff.

They enjoyed a picnic of sandwiches, salads, chips and sausages in the sunshine on Thursday last week.

Teachers had organised games including kiss the frog prince, find Cinderella’s glass slippers, Snow White’s poison apple bob, pin the tail on the corgi and a diamond relay.

Children also attempted to cram marshmallows in their mouths and then sing Happy Birthday to Her Majesty.

The school’s garden was decorated with Union flag balloons and there were cupcakes arranged in the shape of 90. Headteacher Clare Lynas said: “We’re not trying to make a political statement but it’s important to mark this occasion in the British calendar and to show our gratitude to the Queen.

“It’s also a very nice opportunity to have everybody eating together. The children are unbelievably excited. I’m absolutely delighted that everybody is so happy.”
