A SERVICE is to be held to celebrate the life of former Conservative MP Sir Anthony Durant, who lived in Caversham.
Sir Anthony, who is survived by his widow Lady Durant, died in February, aged 88.
He was elected as Member of Parliament for Reading North in 1974 and continued to serve as member for Reading West following boundary changes in 1983.
He was knighted in 1991 and stepped down from politics in 1997. Sir Anthony also served as vice-chamberlain of the royal household from 1988 to 1990 and was chairman of the River Thames Society.
The service will take place at Reading Minster in Castle Street, Reading, at 1.45pm on July 4.
