Royal theme for festival

THIS year’s Woodcote Festival will be themed around the Queen’s 90th birthday.

THIS year’s Woodcote Festival will be themed around the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The September 10 event, which will begin at noon instead of the usual 1pm, will kick off with a royal-inspired fancy dress competition.

Other new attractions will include craft beers from the West Berkshire Brewery and an expanded programme of children’s activities.

There will be jewellery workshops and the RSPB will show youngsters how to make bird feeders. There could be several bouncy castles for different ages.

More competitions are to be announced shortly and entry forms will be available at Woodcote library, Londis, the post office and the garden centre from July.

Meanwhile, volunteers are still needed to help run the festival bar. Call 07873 258378. Anyone wishing to set up a stall or organise a children’s activity should call 07780 330697.
