About 700 air cadets from across the South visited RAF Benson to mark the 75th anniversary of the movement.

The 12- to 20-year-olds took part in activities, including flying the Group Tutor, and were given flights in Chinook and Puma helicopters.

The base's air cadet liaison officer said: “For most, this was their first time controlling an aircraft and it was great to see so many enjoying it. The air cadet organisation fosters a love of aviation in young people as well as other valuable skills for future life.”
