Win a pair of tickets to an Italian feast on the water worth £95

HERE’S your chance to win a pair of tickets for the Caldesi on the Thames cruise.

The Henley Standard has teamed up with Hobbs of Henley to offer you and a friend the opportunity to enjoy a night of delicious food and entertainment with Italian restaurateur Giancarlo Caldesi on The New Orleans on Friday, May 25. The prize is worth £95.

The charismatic chef will be cooking up an Italian feast with five courses and will interact with his guests dressed in full centurion costume to celebrate his and his wife Katie’s cookbook Rome — Centuries in an Italian Kitchen.

The Romans on the Thames menu will be a celebration of wonderful food from the Italian capital with dishes that feature in the book. Copies will be available to be bought and signed on the evening.

Lagana with fish and pickles, a Roman-style flat bread with a selection of dips (Lagana is gluten-free and there will be an olive paste for the vegetarians).

Suppli — fried rice balls stuffed with cheese and named after the telephone cables of Rome because of the hot, stringy cheese that looks like cables. (Gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians).

Rigatoni Amatriciana — a spicy sauce with black pepper and chilli and “guanciale”-cured pig cheek. (There will be a vegetarian and gluten-free alternative).

Porchetta di ariccia with potatoes alla nonna and broccoli — roast pork Roman-style. (Porchetta is gluten-free). For vegetarians — aubergine parmigiana.

Chocolate and orange tiramisu — a chocoholic’s version of the classic tiramisu. Whipped cream with rum and seasonal berries (gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians).

The cruise will last four hours, boarding at the Hobbs boatyard in Station Road at 6.45pm (departure 7pm) and returning at 11pm.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is answer the question below and send it, together with your name, address and daytime phone number, to: Caldesi on Thames competition, Henley Standard, Caxton House, Station Road, Henley, RG9 1AD.

The winner will be the sender of the first correct entry to be selected at random after the closing date of Friday, April 12 and will be notified by phone.
