Part of RAF base to stay in Ewelme parish

PLANS to change the Benson parish boundary to include the whole of RAF Benson have been scrapped.

The base, which is currently split between Benson and Ewelme, would have been entirely in Benson parish under proposals considered by South Oxfordshire District Council.

The idea had divided the two parish councils.

Ewelme councillors objected saying it would result in council tax rising by a third, while Benson Parish Council was in favour.

Now district council chief executive David Buckle has written to both councils, saying the boundary will remain unchanged.
