Residents encouraged to recycle waste

RESIDENTS who sign up for South Oxfordshire District Council’s garden waste service in April and May are being offered a 10 per cent discount on the normal charge of £34 per year.

The service provides a brown wheelie bin for grass, leaves, weeds, flowers, hedge clippings or branches which is collected fortnightly.

The council will be making a free collection of extra garden waste for new and existing customers during the week beginning May 12.

A free compost giveaway day will be held at the council’s offices in Crowmarsh on Saturday, May 10 from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Compost bins will be available for half price at £10.

Councillor David Dodds, cabinet member for recycling and waste, said: “We hope that customers thinking of signing up to our garden waste scheme will be encouraged by this offer.”
