Council rejects cash plea for ‘fudgy’ plan

A REQUEST for money to pay for widening the pavement near Goring station has been rejected.

The Mobility Issues Group for Goring and Streatley, which is co-ordinating the work, asked Goring Parish Council for up to £5,000.

But councillors said that while they supported the idea, they would not commit money without a more detailed proposal.

The group wants to widen the pavement along Wallingford Road between its junctions with Reading Road and the High Street rail bridge.

The walkway is less than a metre wide at its narrowest, meaning pedestrians often have tstep into the road when passing each other.
