OUTGOING Mayor Elizabeth Hodgkin and town clerk Mike Kennedy had a little joke together at last week’s meeting of Henley Town Council.
She asked him to explain to the two people sitting in the public gallery where the fire exits were.
Mike, on seeing that the pair were the Mayor’s husband Richard and former councillor Ken Arlett, replied: “I think Richard and Ken already know where they are.”
Mr Arlett was also in a humorous mood. During public question time, he congratulated the Mayor on her year in office, adding: “I could well say that you have been the best mayor since 1991 but I won’t.”
No guesses for who was mayor that year!
Meanwhile, Mike is planning a visit to Wembley — his team Watford will be playing Crystal Palace in the Championship play-off final on May 27. It’s a bank holiday, so he doesn’t need to book a day off!
