Skilleter in fine form as Greys Green win low-scoring clash

GREYS GREEN secured victory against LONGWICK in a low-scoring match on Sunday.

GREYS GREEN secured victory against LONGWICK in a low-scoring match on Sunday.

Longwick’s openers were both bowled by Ahmed and following a run out the visitors found themselves on 5-3.

Taunton struck several boundaries to lead the fightback but his problem was to find a partner to stay with him as all the Greys Green bowlers thrived on the rain-affected wicket.

Taunton reached 50 but was bowled immediately after and with nobody else making double figures, Longwick’s innings subsided to 88 all out, with Ahmed, Lubbock and Skilleter taking three wickets apiece.

In reply Morton and Taunton bowled with pace and movement off a drying pitch. Cross batted well and with Cusden they made steady progress, until Cross was bowled to make the score 49-5.

First-change bowler Marshall was now bowling with accuracy and runs came slowly. With the score at 66-6 Ahmed and Knight advanced the score but both were dismissed with the teams tied on 88.

More alarms followed but Greys scored the single required to win the match after 41 overs.
