Back-to-back wins secures festival honours for Gillotts

HOST school Gillotts triumphed in their cricket festival held on Thursday of last week involving Langtree

HOST school Gillotts triumphed in their cricket festival held on Thursday of last week involving Langtree and Highdown.

The hosts were invited to bat first in damp conditions against Langtree and set the day off at a blistering pace amassing 84 runs off of their 10 overs with both openers scoring freely and support from the middle order. Langtree batted well in reply but economic bowling restricted the chasing side to 33.

The second match saw Highdown get their first taste of the action posting a total of 45 runs. With Gillotts in pursuit the Highdown bowlers began well restricting the flow of runs but in the end were unable to prevent Gillotts getting over the line with three overs to spare.

The third and final match saw Highdown once again take to the field starting in miserly fashion. Despite this early pressure Langtree were able to post a competitive total of 60. Highdown batted well throughout the innings but fell short and Langtree ran out winners.

The festival was the culmination of a secondary school cricket programme supported by Invesco Perpetual, Henley Cricket Club, Berkshire Cricket, Chance to Shine and Performance Cricket.
