THE wet weather last weekend led to many of the league’s fixtures being either cancelled or abandoned.
The only match involving local sides that did survive the conditions saw HENLEY 2nds triumph at CHISWICK AND WHITTON to increase their lead at the top of Division 2B.
With the hosts batting first Henley used four bowlers, each picking up wickets to ensure Chiswick and Whitton never got their innings going.
Only 45 from Wickramasinghe enabled the hosts to enter three figures with two wickets apiece for Jones, Wheeler and Dunstan and 4-29 from Euan Brock on a pitch that offered assistance to the seamers early on.
In reply the probing slow left arm of Singh (3-36) accounted for Harris, Oldershaw and Allaway, while Chopra (2-31) and Bhatia (2-21) drew a series of ill-advised strokes from the Henley middle order. With Henley collapsing it was left to Brock (60 not out) and Jones (27 not out) to see them home with three wickets to spare.
