WOODCOTE hosted friendly rivals GORING on a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon.
The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first. They started well with a solid 25 from Ellis and hard-hitting 40 from Introna to give Goring a good platform for a big score.
But some excellent bowling from Woodcote saw wickets tumble at regular intervals and Goring were restricted to 144 all out.
Ben Danks was the pick of the Woodcote bowlers, returning figures of 4-22 from his seven overs.
In reply, Woodcote started well with an opening partnership of 60 runs between Crawford Anderson, with 21 and Jez Mayo, who made 35.
Then a couple of quick wickets put Goring back in the game but they were unable to capitalise on this as the middle order came to the crease.
A hard hitting 17 from Nathan Silver and a comfortable unbeaten 30 partnership between Pete Roberts, with 14 and Mark Pearson, with 15, saw Woodcote home with a couple of overs to spare.
Slade with figures of 2-33 and Carrier with 2- 30 were the pick of the Goring bowlers.
