HENLEY lost out to HIGH WYCOMBE in the semi-final of the Home Counties Premier League Twenty20 competition at Banbury on Sunday.

Winning the toss, Henley elected to field and succeeded in removing Baker, Hawkes and Cranfield-Thompson. However, Wycombe proved to have strength in depth as Duncan (35), Russell (35), Owen (40) and Davson (25) all made important contributions as Henley were set a target of 166.

In reply Henley were never in the hunt. Reasonably up with the rate until the eighth over, the path grew ever steeper as the required run rate crept steadily up whilst wickets fell. Skipper Michael Roberts (35 from 31 balls) apart, the Henley batsmen failed to impose themselves and Tom Nugent’s 23 from 14 balls was too late in the day to retrieve the situation.
