PEPPARD STOKE ROW U13s sealed the Berkshire Youth League Division 1 West title with a 24-run win against Thames Valley League side FALKLAND U13s.
Ed Bruun and Peter Evans (both retired 33 not out) were joined by Zac Preston (26) in helping Peppard Stoke Row to 143-5 in their 20 overs.
All-rounder Preston (3-16) was joined by Charlie Wagstaff (2-18) in restricting the hosts to 119-9 in reply.
The team – who won seven of their eight games in the league with the other conceded by their opponents – will now go on to play the runners-up in the East Division of the league as they search for county-wide glory.
Across all games they have won 16 of 17 matches (one conceded against) and have only fallen to a Henley side when a number of players was unavailable. Evans has a credible batting average of 108 having scored 216 runs while Daniel Watts (178), Joseph Weakley (173), Bruun (168), Preston (154) and Ed Atkinson (145) have also showed prodigious talent.
The bowling averages have been similarly impressive with Owen Simmons (17 at 7.71) the top wicket taker, but other outstanding figures include leg spinner Evans (11 at 6.36), Owen Ravden (10 at 4.4), Atkinson (10 at 5.9) and Preston (10 at 14.2).
While these figures may take the highlights, Peppard Stoke Row have regularly rotated the batting and bowling orders to ensure all players get a game and there have been fine contributions from the likes of Joe Richardson, Stanley Hamblin, Archie Clark, Oliver Segdwick, Billy Fundell, James Watts and John Evans throughout what has been a remarkable campaign.
